Airbus 340 Precooler
Application: A340 500/600 Fighter versions E and up
Customer: Liebherr-Aerospace

The challenge was to design an airborne heat exchanger of impressive size and reduced weight (total length of 800 mm at about 25 kg) capable of withstanding operating temperatures of up to 450 0C. The method of installation presented another problem in terms of strength. Despite very tight delivery schedule for the first prototypes, this was done on time with minimum dimensional deviations.
